Drunken Apple Pie
Pie crusts (Recipe taken from http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/perfect_pie_crust/)
3lb bag Honey Crisp Apples (Peeled and sliced)
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup Crown Royal Vanilla
Filling:
Peel and slice apples
Combine brown sugar, cinnamon nutmeg in a bowl
Add apples and mix by hand to coat all the apples
Pour in half cup of Crown Royal Vanilla and toss to combine
Place in air tight container and refrigerate overnight
Cooking:
Preheat oven to 375
Add filling to prebaked pie crust (instructions are in the pie crust recipe)
Only add about half the liquid to avoid a runny pie
Brush water on edge of pie crust and place pie crust on top of pie pressing down to close seam between crusts.
Cut a few vents to allow steam to escape
Take some foil and fold it around the edge of the pie to avoid the crust from drying out and getting too dark.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes
Remove foil
Bake another 25 minutes or until crust is a dark golden brown.
Allow to cool before serving
